Cronin is a physical therapist due partly to the fact that he
was, as a young athlete, chronically injured.
Keith recently joined us and shared his knowledge
about youth sports injuries, ranging from how to prevent injury
to how to treat players that have been injured.
You obviously want to do all you can to help your
young athletes prevent injury. But did you know that one big part
of preventing sports injuries is to properly guide them through
strength and conditioning exercises?
Keith took some time during his interview to discuss
the proper way to approach strength and conditioning exercises
when dealing with younger athletes.

• Why it's important to begin with your athlete's
problematic areas when addressing strength and conditioning exercises.
• That the first area you should address with athletes
is flexibility, focusing on those body parts that are important
to their particular sport.
• How not all athletes are the same—and each athlete's
exercises should be addressed with on an individual basis.
• About some of the more common sports injuries
that coaches should be aware of, particularly repetitive onset
injuries.
