This course is designed to introduce you to the basic concepts of coaching ethics and provide the basis for you to begin establishing your own coaching philosophies.
Teaching and Communication
This course is designed to inform you of the best practices for teaching and communication in your role as a coach. You will learn the basics of effective communication and gain valuable tips to help you plan practices that maximize time and resources and decrease wasted time and confusion.
Safety and Injury Prevention
In this course, you will learn the basics of providing a safe space for practice and competition by ensuring safe conditions prior to activity, by educating players and coaches on safety practices, and by recognizing and treating injuries both physically and cognitively.
Growth and Development
This course will help coaches recognize the patterns of cognitive, motor, emotional, and social development in young athletes, then develop coaching methods that allow them to progress and improve at different rates. You will learn specific techniques to modify practice and competitive strategies to maximize participation, ensure enjoyment and increase your team's success.
Physical Conditioning
This course is intended to help coaches at all levels design and implement a physical conditioning program for their athletes, taking into consideration the differences in age, physical development, and developmental challenges associated with youth sports.
Sport Skills and Tactics
This course focuses on the need for coaches to have basic sport knowledge and apply it to a competitive setting. You will learn how to identify and develop the technical and tactical skills required for success in your sport, and learn how to utilize your athlete's abilities to maximize team success.
Organization and Administration
This course provides a simple step by step plan to help you master the administrative duties of the coach, including contest management, public relations, human resources, finances, and risk management.
Evaluation
In this course, coaches will discover how to create successful programs by setting goals, evaluating progress, then taking action to continuously improve.
